Basutoland - the mountainous British Protectorate situated like a pimple on the left cheek of the Republic of South Africa - soon takes another stage towards independence. In the election campaign the Basutoland National Party, the Marematlou Freedom Party and the embryo Basutoland Communists Party are expected to pit their strength agaisnt the ruling Basutoland Congress Party.
