Description DM2008103101:SAED:SOCIAL:CULTURE:GCP MAY17 1964 - Six Women Knocked Down On Their Way Back From Initiation School. Initiates with their masks. These women are preparing for marriage. A hit-and-run driver last week mowed down six Basuto women, all wearing reed veils on their faces, as they were walking back from a tribal initiation school near Mapetla. The women, who were chanting and walking in two rows, were badly injured. They were rushed to Baragwanath Hospital where three were treated and released. The other three are still in hospital.
